Flood Relief

Noonday Association is partnering with Samaritan's Purse and West Ridge Church to have a coordinated response to the Flood Relief in the NW Atlanta.

West Ridge Church will be hosting Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief Team beginning tomorrow. Sam’s Purse will be bringing a fifty-three foot trailer and four other trailers full of tools and gear to help serve those from our community cleaning up from the flood.

Samaritan's Purse Teams will canvass some of the hardest hit areas beginning tomorrow afternoon. They will assess every project before volunteers go out, and will help organize volunteers and teams.  Churches with volunteer teams are asked to enlist team leaders to supervise the team and have the team leader contact Samaritan’s Purse at 678-202-5974 for assignment.

Sam's Purse will give the contact information of everyone served. If they are not already connected to a church we hope to connect them to one of our congregations one way or another.

Paul Richardson of West Ridge contacted an organization called Gleaning for the World and they are sending 3500 blankets, 300 pairs of shoes and 4 pallets of water. West Ridge will distribute some of this through the Red Cross but if churches need these items to distribute they are welcome to them. It will be first come, first serve.

Here is a summary of the partnership with Samaritan's Purse with phone numbers and e-mail for how your church can get involved; also on Paul Richardson's blog at www.paulrichardsononline.com.

Granite for $28 a Square Foot.

How many of you have seen these ads on TV, roadside signs, or hear it advertised on the radio? Granite Countertops for $28 a square foot! Sounds great doesn't it? Almost to good to be true, right? Well in many cases it is. Once you call and talk to the folks you get up charged for sink cutouts, core holes for faucets, stove top cutouts, etc. The price has just jumped $8 to $10 per square foot. Next you are require to select from a few stone choices, usually not a stone you would like in your home. The price just jumped again because you want a more attractive stone.  In some cases the material being used is from multiple drops or remnants of larger slabs and unless you specify that you do not want excess seams throughout your countertop, you end up with a top that has joints all over the place.

As a consumer this tactic infuriates me. I don't like being drawn in by an ad only to find out that the ad left out some important details. As a granite shop owner I refuse to operate this way. When we post an ad it is accurate and not misleading. Our quotes are an all inclusive price. We may not be at $28 per square foot installed, but neither are they.

We regularly run specials including slab specials and boneyard specials. Stop by our web site www.barmarstone.com We currently have some very attractive slabs on sale from $9.00 per square foot to $9.95 per square foot. We have also added an outdoor living section including natural stone planters and birdbaths with more hand crafted products on the way.
