My sister, Casy Walker, Miss Cobb County 2009, is also the Cobb County representative for the Autism Speaks organization. She is devoted to raising awareness for autism and has organized a "Jingle Jog" in Powder Springs to raise money for Autism efforts. Every runner/walker will wear a bell as they jog for the children they support. What a wonderful and fun way to help out a very worthy cause! Autism effects 1 in 120 kids in Georgia and in response to this, Jingle Jog will serve to raise money and awareness for their efforts for Autism Speaks and Children’s Miracle Network. All the proceeds will be divided amongst these organizations. Jingle Jog will be a 3k walk/run in Powder Springs, Ga on the Silver Comet Trails. We will also provide bells for you to wear for every child with autism you want to support.
There is a $25 entry fee to participate, which will include coffee (donated by the 'Daily Grind') upon arrival. There will also be a $40 family option for families over two people.
If you do not desire to race but would like to come out and cheer on our runners or you want to raise money we encourage you to do that as well.
If you are a runner and you feel a desire to donate more than the entry fee, you may think of getting sponsors to donate $10 or $20 for each mile you complete. Jingle Jog will be held on December 12, 2009 at 9am and we will meet at the Silver Comet Trail parking area on Florence Rd (The Florence Trailhead) or you may park at the Park and Ride. (www.silvercometga.com).
If you desire to participate, please respond to this post by email or in the comment section. Or, you can also register the morning of December 12th before the walk, in person. I hope to see you there!
